My Inspiration and work

My inspiration comes from nature and those magic moments of everyday life. Thoughts between the obvious and surprising. I want to stimulate curiosity and lead the viewer into a world where borders between flora, fauna, and the human form dissolve.

In my work I use natural materials, many of which are from in my local environment or from my garden. The materials are transformed and dipped in wax to create the form of the sculpture. The wax sculpture is then covered in plaster and the wax is melted away. The void left by the wax creates a mould in which the 1100°C hot bronze is poured. When the bronze has cooled down the plaster mould is removed, and the sculpture in its rough form appears. It is then cleaned, sand-blasted, excess material is removed, and small irregularities are repaired before the patina is finally applied to highlight the form and texture of the finished sculpture.

I carry out all these processes myself.
